Who We Are
Showing up, week after week.
What we do
Grocery Run Austin is a neighbor-to-neighbor grocery delivery effort. We buy groceries, we drive them to families across Austin who need them, and we do it without paperwork, means-testing, or hoops to jump through. Every dollar sent here is spent on a real grocery run for a real family.
Why we exist
Around 14% of households nationwide are considered food insecure. In Central Texas, that number is closer to 15–18%. Data indicates that 1 in 4 children in Austin will go to bed hungry today.
People are being forgotten and rejected by systems that are — in theory — meant to serve us all equally. We aren't waiting around for those systems to fix themselves. If they won't show up for our neighbors, we will.
How it works
- A neighbor tells us they need help. We don't ask for proof, paperwork, or a story they shouldn't have to tell.
- We learn what their household actually needs — favorite foods, allergies, ages of kids, cultural staples — instead of handing out a generic box.
- We buy the groceries and deliver them. That's it.
"Grocery Run Austin has been a huge source of relief and stability for my family. There have been times when we've had to make difficult choices between paying bills and putting enough food on the table, and having access to this kind of support takes away a lot of that stress. It's not just about groceries — it's about peace of mind, dignity, and knowing that we're not alone during tough times."
